On 15 June 2020, Improvement of Quality, Services, Infrastructure in Lithuanian Courts Project, financed by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism for 2014–2021, has been launched, and its budget amounts to more than 6.7 million Euro.
The aim of the project is to create a more efficient and effective justice system.
Project objectives:
- to develop measures strengthening the transparency and independence of the formation of the judiciary and to increase the quality standards for the conduct of court proceedings;
- to increase the quality standards for the conduct of court services and the competencies of court representatives;
- improve the court infrastructure and increase the level of security across the courts.
2020 Results:
- Public procurement documentation for the preparation of three studies has been prepared and includes:
- Judge selection and evaluation model development services;
- Judicial process improvement services;
- Capacity building services for effective management of judicial resources.
- Public procurement documentation for the analysis of the current situation of the activities of the court volunteer service has been prepared. In order to increase the visibility of the court volunteer service, the logo of the court volunteer service was created, the distinguishing signs of the court volunteer service were created and the court volunteer starter kit (attributes) was purchased;
- Five international remote meetings were organised with Norwegian experts to discuss project activities;
- A website is being created to publicise the project;
- The modernisation of the infrastructure of three courts has been started: court public spaces are being created and adapted to the needs of court visitors while physical security in courts is also being improved.
