On September 24th, after the completion of renovation works, the Vilnius District Court reopened its doors. After nearly a year of renovations, Lithuania\u2019s largest court is now proud of its well-updated public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first-floor lobby has been modernly reconstructed, three courtrooms have been renovated, and nine new courtrooms have been added. Following the renovations, the Vilnius District Court now boasts sixty-four courtrooms in total. Special rooms have also been updated, including a child and parent room, a room for sensitive witnesses and child interviews, and a space for reviewing case files. The building’s corridors, sanitary facilities, halls, and other common areas have been fully reconstructed to accommodate the diverse needs of visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Courtrooms have been equipped with remote session broadcasting and audio recording systems, allowing sessions to be observed remotely and audio recordings to be made. This modern solution meets societal needs and improves the quality of court operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To ensure safety, all renovated areas are equipped with video surveillance and access control systems, along with a metal detector. Ensuring personal safety is of utmost importance when handling sensitive cases, making it a priority during the renovation of the court premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the convenience of visitors, a one-stop service will be offered. This will speed up service and help visitors resolve their issues more efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The large courtroom, especially important for high-profile cases that attract public attention, has been renovated. It is now more comfortable for staff, participants in the proceedings, and members of the media, who have newly arranged comfortable spaces equipped with the necessary tools for their work. We believe that this renovation will not only create a modern environment but also further improve and modernize the quality of the court’s work and make the court more open to the public,” said Viktorija \u0160elmien\u0117, Chairwoman of the Vilnius District Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
